Live exchange rate calculator for 154 world currencies, with historical rate charts going back 90 days — synced daily from a free, no-key exchange-rate feed, the same one that powers exchange rates on every ipto IP and country lookup.
154 of the world's 178 currently-active ISO 4217 currencies — everything except a handful of non-tradeable accounting units (IMF Special Drawing Rights, indexed settlement units, precious-metal codes, and similar). Unsupported codes return a 400 with the specific currency flagged.
History
Up to 90 days of real daily reference rates per currency, backfilled once and appended to daily.
Update frequency
Once daily, on the same cron as ipto's other threat-feed and dataset syncs. Not intraday or real-time.
FAQ
Is this real-time forex data?
No. It's a daily reference rate, synced once a day — fine for reference conversions, not for trading or invoicing at a live spot rate.
Does the chart show bid/ask spread like a trading platform?
No — this is a single daily reference rate, not a bid/ask spread, so there's no spread to chart. The min/avg/max stats shown are the range of that single daily rate over the selected period, not a trading range.
How far back does the rate history go?
Up to 90 days per currency pair, toggled via the 30D/60D/90D buttons above the chart. It won't go back further than that today.
Why did I get an error for my currency code?
ipto covers 154 currencies — effectively every real-world payment currency, minus a few non-tradeable IMF/accounting codes. If yours isn't recognized, double-check it's a real ISO 4217 code — browse the full list in "Find other currencies" above.
Does ipto have this data anywhere else?
Yes — every /v1/ip, /v1/asn/:asn, and /v1/country/:code response already includes the resolved country's currency_code and exchange_rate_usd. This tool and its API expose the full rate table and history directly instead of nesting it inside a lookup.
About this tool
The currency converter turns an amount from one currency into another using daily exchange rates for 154 world currencies. It also shows 90 days of historical rates as a chart so you can see how a pair has moved.
How it works
Rates are fetched on a daily schedule and cached, which keeps conversions instant and consistent. The same data is exposed through the exchange rate API, so what you see on the page is what your code receives.
What to keep in mind
These are daily reference rates, not live trading quotes, and they do not include the margins or fees that banks and card networks add. Use them for estimates and reporting rather than for settling an actual transaction.
Common uses
People use it for travel budgets and invoices, and developers use the API to show prices in a visitor's local currency once the visitor's country is known from their IP address.
