Trademark Lookup

Search and check the live status of any U.S. trademark by its 8-digit USPTO serial number — registration status, filing date, owner, and goods & services, straight from USPTO's own Trademark Status & Document Retrieval (TSDR) system, not a cached or resold copy.

Enter a serial number above and press Look up.

A free trademark status search, direct from the source: this tool answers "is this trademark registered?" and "where does this application stand?" using USPTO's own live case data, not a third-party mirror. A trademark serial number is assigned by USPTO the moment an application is filed and stays fixed for the life of that application/registration — it is not the same as a registration number, which is only assigned once (if) the mark actually registers. This tool checks status by serial number only; registration-number lookup isn't supported since USPTO doesn't document an equivalent TSDR path for it today.

What you get

Registration & status
Current prosecution/registration status, filing date, registration number and date, and status date — queried live, not a periodic snapshot.
Owner & mark details
Owner name, mark description, and the goods/services the mark is registered or applied for.
Source & attribution
Every response carries source and attribution fields. Case-status text is a U.S. government work and public domain under USPTO's own terms of use, credited on every response rather than presented as if it originated here.

Common uses for a trademark status check

Confirming a mark is actually registered (not just applied-for) before relying on it in a contract or listing; tracking an application's progress through USPTO's examination process without logging into TSDR directly; and pulling filing dates, ownership, or classification for a mark you already have the serial number for.

What's deliberately out of scope

Trademark images/logos are not returned — USPTO's terms carve image rights out separately from the case-status text (image rights belong to the mark owner, not USPTO). This tool never touches or displays mark images. It also doesn't search by mark name/owner (see the FAQ below) and doesn't cover patents — trademarks and patents protect different things and USPTO tracks them in separate systems.

FAQ

Search USPTO's own Trademark Search system (tmsearch.uspto.gov) by mark name or owner first — this tool looks up case status for a serial number you already have, it does not search by name.
Not yet. USPTO's current TSDR documentation only publishes a serial-number path for case status; a registration-number path is not implemented here rather than guessed at.
No — every lookup is a live, direct call to USPTO's TSDR API for that request only. Case-status text is public domain (credited via the attribution field on every response); nothing is stored or mirrored into a database here.

About this tool

The trademark lookup checks the status of a United States trademark by serial number. It returns the registration status, filing date, owner and the goods and services the mark covers.

How it works

Data is retrieved live from the USPTO's TSDR system when you search, so the status shown is current at the time of the request instead of a periodically imported copy.

What to keep in mind

This is an information tool covering U.S. federal marks. It does not search state or foreign registers and is not legal advice; a clearance search for a new brand needs professional review of similar marks, not only an exact record.

Common uses

It is useful for confirming that a mark is live before you license or buy it, checking when a renewal is due, and looking up who owns a name you have seen in use.
