Terms of Service

Use of the API
The free tier of the ipto API is provided for good-faith use. You may not use the API to build competing products, resell access, or generate abusive traffic volumes. Bulk lookups are available on every tier, subject to your plan's documented batch size and daily request limits — see the API reference.
Your account
If you create an account through Google Sign-in, you're responsible for keeping your API key confidential and for all activity under your account. Don't share your key publicly or let someone else use your account's quota. If we have reason to believe an account is compromised or being used to violate these terms, we may suspend its key while we look into it — you can also regenerate or revoke your own key at any time from your dashboard.
Intellectual property
The ipto name, logo, and site design belong to us. Using the API doesn't transfer any ownership to you — it grants a limited, non-exclusive right to query the API and use the response data in your own application, subject to these terms. You keep all rights to whatever you build with it.
Billing, cancellation, and refunds
The free tier is always free — nothing below applies unless you have subscribed to a paid plan. Paid plans are billed monthly, or annually at the discounted rate shown on the Pricing page.
You can cancel a paid plan at any time. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access through the end of the period you already paid for, and you are not charged again after that. Downgrading to the free tier is free, immediate, and does not require a refund request — you simply stop being billed from your next cycle.
If you are unhappy with a paid plan, you can request a full refund of your first payment within 14 days of being charged — email hello@ipto.to and we will process it within 5 business days, no questions asked. This window applies once per account, to the initial charge on a new subscription. Renewal charges after that — each subsequent month, or the renewal of an annual plan — are final, since cancelling ahead of a renewal is always available and stops the next charge before it happens.
If you are ever charged in error — a duplicate charge, a charge after you had already cancelled, the wrong amount — we will refund it in full regardless of the 14-day window. That is our mistake to fix, not a courtesy.
Data sources
IP geolocation and ASN data is gathered from several key industry data providers and updated daily.
Accuracy
IP geolocation is accurate at the country level for the vast majority of addresses. City-level precision is not provided. Some IPs — particularly proxies, VPNs, and satellite connections — may be attributed to incorrect regions.
No warranty
The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from use of or reliance on this data.
Availability
We aim for high availability but provide no uptime SLA on the free tier. Paid plans include SLA commitments.
Limitation of liability
The service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of it, and our total liability for any claim is capped at whatever you paid us in the three months before the claim arose — or, on the free tier, at nothing.
Indemnification
You agree to cover any claims, damages, or reasonable legal costs arising from your use of the API in a way that breaches these terms or infringes someone else's rights.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate access for an account that violates these terms, abuses the service, or falls behind on a paid subscription. You're free to stop using the service or delete your account at any time — see the account-data section of our Privacy Policy for how.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by generally applicable law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If any part of them turns out to be unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
